We are parting with our Pirmil No. 31 Sail-Oar boat from June 2002. She is a beautiful and sturdy sail-oar vessel featuring two rowing benches, a 13 m2 mainsail, and a 4 m2 jib on a bowsprit. It is equipped with a robust air-cooled 2.3 hp Honda engine, allowing it to tackle the northern English Channel’s coastal currents.
This day-boat with a pivoting centerboard and lug rigging is approved for 5 people. Its rustic and traditional design enables it to sail upwind easily. Originally, the Pirmil was a fishing sailboat from the early 20th century, designed for fishing elver in the Loire estuary near Nantes and for small races between shipowners (on Sundays). Its hull was born in 1989, following a contest launched by the famous French magazine « Chasse-Marée ». An old Pirmil model was found in the mud, and its lines and equipment were modernized by the naval architect duo Conan & Lelièvre.
It is equipped with three ballasts, two of which make the boat self-draining. It weighs only 270 kg. We protect it with a waterproof cover.
Our dinghy is a member of the Folkestone Yacht Club and regularly returns to its small island in French North Finistère. It is familiar with the Strait of Dover and small coves.
Currently moored in Great Britain, it will return to France starting from July 15th.
Our Pirmil, named « L’Amour, » has a French navigation card. It comes with two red mainsails and a cream jib. The road trailer is well-maintained and has a spare wheel. The bearings have never been submerged.
